Wellness tourism is one of the specialized types of tourism with distinct characteristics and is becoming a preferred choice for many travelers during their journeys. This type of tourism also has the potential to generate substantial revenue for tourism businesses.
The development of health and wellness tourism should be based on an assessment of customer needs and preferences. A survey of over 500 tourists will serve as the basis for identifying which types of health and wellness tourism can be developed in Vietnam. From there, appropriate and effective development solutions can be proposed—such as establishing policies and mechanisms, strengthening linkages between tourism and healthcare service providers, developing technical infrastructure, and enhancing human resource training.
