Abstract

This study explores the trends in applying digital technology to vocabulary teaching at higher education institutions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including a survey of 415 students and semi-structured interviews with 15 lecturers from various disciplines. The survey gathered data on the accessibility and effectiveness of digital technology in vocabulary learning, while the interviews provided insights into lecturers' perspectives and experiences. The findings reveal a growing trend in using digital tools such as mobile applications, online learning platforms, and artificial intelligence to support vocabulary acquisition. Most students and lecturers found that digital technology enhances engagement and memory retention. However, challenges such as limited technical infrastructure and insufficient digital skills persist. The study concludes that training in digital skills for both lecturers and students, along with improvements in technical infrastructure, is necessary to fully leverage the trend of digital technology application in vocabulary teaching.
