An Article-Level Tool for Verifying Scopus-Indexed Publications in Economics and Management Research

In the context where international scientific publications are increasingly used as a key indicator in research evaluation and research management, accurately verifying whether articles are indexed in Scopus has become an essential requirement for higher education institutions and research organizations. However, current verification practices are largely based on checking journal titles, which entails significant risks of misclassification due to the existence of discontinued journals or articles published outside the periods covered by Scopus. This paper presents the development and experimental implementation of a tool designed to support the verification of Scopus-indexed articles at the individual article level, based on the exploitation of scholarly identifiers and cross-referencing metadata through the Scopus API. The results indicate that the proposed tool is capable of standardizing article metadata and accurately identifying journal indexing status and coverage periods. An illustrative experimental implementation using sample articles published across different years demonstrates that the tool consistently.
