Circular Economy, Economic Transformation, Sustainable Development, VietnamTóm tắt
The rapid development of industries worldwide has created severe consequences such as environmental pollution, resource depletion, and increased waste from the production process. As global production and consumption activities strengthen, limitations of the linear economic model are becoming increasingly apparent. Thus, transforming toward a circular economy has become a strategic and critical choice for countries worldwide to achieve sustainable development goals. In this paper, we thoroughly discuss the concepts and principles of a typical circular economy, current situations, and some initiatives proposed by the government to promote the circular economy in Vietnam. Qualitative research methods, including desk research and content analysis methods, are employed in this study to provide a comprehensive overview of the circular economy principles, their developments, limitations, and prospects in Vietnam. From our findings, we highlight the suggestions to accelerate Vietnam’s transition toward a circular economy.
